In the governance of Trinidad and Tobago both when under Colonial rule up to1962 and subsequent to that under self-rule, Committees were appointed by the Government to study, consider and make recommendations on any issue of the day of national importance. A committee is appointed with a Chairman, and given specific responsibilities and a time frame in which to submit their report.
